The team at Strategic Equity Group has experience in a broad range of services, including investment banking, business valuation, bankruptcy advisory, and other financial advisory services. SEG’s senior management is supported by a professional staff of senior analysts in the Orange County office.

Chris
Christopher A. Kramer

Chris brings to SEG and its clients over 15 years of financial advisory and investment banking experience. He has extensive expertise in structuring and negotiating transactions across a wide variety of industries, and has prepared financial opinions addressing the value of common and preferred stock, various debt securities, intangible assets of all types, the fairness of certain transactions, and the value of a wide variety of non-traditional types of assets.

Prior to joining SEG, Chris was the director of financial opinions for Pacific Corporate Group, a private equity advisory firm, and spent over five years with Marshall and Stevens, Inc., a national valuation firm. He has also held positions as a commercial loan analyst for a major southern California S & L, and various positions in the insurance, advertising, and retail industries.

He is past president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization, and has been a part-time lecturer at California State University, Long Beach in the Finance Department. He has spoken before various groups of attorneys, accountants, and business owners.

Chris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from California State University, Northridge, and his MBA with a Finance concentration from the University of Southern California. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and is an Accredited Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA).

As a Director, Jill is a valuation specialist who brings to SEG over fifteen years of valuation experience in business and intangible asset valuation, financial analysis, and project management.

Prior to joining SEG, Jill spent twelve years focused on valuation as a Senior Manager with Deloitte’s Financial Advisory Services Group in their Los Angeles office and more recently as a valuation professional with Cronkite & Kissell, a valuation advisory firm in Southern California. During this time, she managed a variety of valuation projects including those performed for financial reporting and tax compliance under the guidance of ASC 350, 805, and 718, as well as IRC 409A. In addition, she executed various engagements related to transactional services, litigation support, debt and equity valuations, and estate and gift planning. Prior to joining Deloitte in 2000, Jill spent six years in commercial and securitized lending where she initiated, underwrote, and managed a portfolio of middle market financings and performed valuation work related to the securitization of such loans.

She has experience consulting with businesses of varying sizes and in a wide range of industries including manufacturing, retail, real estate, consumer products and technology.

Jill earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management.

Michael Lovett

As a Vice President with SEG, Michael is principally responsible for providing project leadership and execution on mergers & acquisitions, employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) transactions, and other investment banking and valuation advisory services. In his time with SEG, Michael has worked with a variety of companies across a broad range of sizes and industries, with particular experience serving architecture & engineering, construction, transportation & logistics, distribution, manufacturing, and healthcare services clients. Since joining SEG in 2014, Michael has prepared financial opinions addressing the value of common and preferred stock, various debt securities, intangible assets of all types, the fairness of certain transactions, and value of a wide variety of non-traditional asset types.

Michael completed his undergraduate studies at California State Polytechnic University – Pomona, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance, Real Estate & Law, and a minor in Economics. Prior to joining SEG, he completed an internship with a national wealth advisory practice. Michael holds Series 63 & 79 Securities Licenses, and is also an active member of both The ESOP Association and the American Society of Appraisers, among other professional organizations.

As a Vice President with SEG, Chase is responsible for project leadership and execution on mergers & acquisitions, ESOP buyouts, and other transaction & valuation advisory services. In his time with SEG, Chase has worked with a variety of companies across a broad range of sizes and industries, with particular experience serving construction & engineering, manufacturing & distribution, transportation & logistics, and healthcare services clients. Since joining SEG, he has advised clients in structuring and negotiating control buyouts and leveraged ESOP transactions, and prepared financial opinions addressing the value of various equity and debt interests, intangible assets, complex securities, and a wide variety of other non-traditional asset types.

Chase holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Orange County. He also holds Series 63 & 79 Securities Licenses, and is an active member of both The ESOP Association and the National Center for Employee Ownership. Prior to joining SEG in 2015, Chase graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Economics from Chapman University. Outside the office, Chase enjoys spending time in the outdoors, traveling with friends and family, and riding his motorcycle.

Matt Williams

As a Senior Associate with SEG, Matt is principally responsible for providing project leadership and execution on employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) transactions, valuation advisory services, and other investment banking services. In his time with SEG, Matt has worked with a variety of companies across a broad range of sizes and industries, with particular experience serving architecture & engineering, construction, environmental consulting, hospitality, and retail clients. Since joining SEG in 2016, Matt has prepared financial opinions addressing the value of common and preferred stock, intangible assets of all types, the fairness of certain transactions, and value of a wide variety of non-traditional asset types.

Matt completed his undergraduate studies at California State University, Fullerton where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance. Prior to joining SEG, he participated in multiple school sponsored programs including a student managed investment fund and business journal, as well as completed several internships in the manufacturing, real estate valuation, and tenant representation industries. Matt is currently a Level 3 candidate of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth – Orange County. He is also an active member of both The ESOP Association and the National Center for Employee Ownership, among other professional organizations

Michael Young

As an Associate with SEG, Michael performs in-depth industry, economic, and financial research, analysis and modeling. Michael works closely with our Directors and Vice Presidents in the valuation of employee stock ownership plans (ESOP), the execution of mergers & acquisitions and ESOP transactions, and other investment banking and valuation advisory services. Since joining SEG in 2017, Michael has worked with companies across a broad range of sizes and industries and has prepared financial opinions addressing the value of common stock, various debt securities, intangible assets, and a variety of non-traditional asset types.

Michael graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. During his undergraduate studies, he was a member of the Finance and Investment Society as well as the Real Estate Society, where he was able to build relationships with members of the San Diego business community. Prior to joining SEG, Michael worked as an analyst and underwriter in the specialty finance division of a federally chartered bank in San Diego. Michael relocated to Orange County in 2017 and passed Level II of the CFA Program in June 2019.

Ryan Monreal

As a Senior Analyst with SEG, Ryan is primarily responsible for assisting in the execution of Employee Stock Ownership (ESOP) transactions, annual ESOP updates, and other valuation advisory engagements. Ryan routinely develops and spreads financial models used to estimate valuation conclusions and performs research involving public companies, comparable transactions, economic data, and industry data. Since joining SEG in 2017, Ryan has worked on numerous ESOP engagements with a variety of companies, and has particular experience valuing private closely held companies within the architecture, engineering & construction (AE&C) industry. Ryan views each valuation engagement as an opportunity to learn something new and enjoys using financial models to solve unique and complex challenges.

Ryan completed his undergraduate studies at California State University, Fullerton, where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration, with a dual concentration in Finance & Accounting. During his undergraduate studies, Ryan participated in the Titan Capital Management Investment Program, where he gained practical experience in equity portfolio management and basic valuation principals. Prior to joining SEG, Ryan completed an internship in the audit department of a middle-market accounting practice, and has previous work experience in property management.
